Brothers,
It is with both sorrow and deep faith in the Resurrection that I write to inform you of the passing of our beloved brother, Deacon Clarence McDavid, who was called home to the Lord early this morning after entering hospice care just days ago. He was 75 years old.
Deacon Clarence was a faithful and dedicated servant of the Archdiocese of Denver, ordained in 1987 by His Eminence, Cardinal Stafford. For the entirety of his nearly four decades of ministry, he served the community of Curé d’Ars Parish with unwavering love and humility. His joyful witness and pastoral presence touched countless lives.
Beyond his parish ministry, Clarence also gave generously of himself in service to the Diaconate community. He served on the Personnel Board, was an Associate Director of the Diaconate, and offered leadership marked by wisdom, compassion, and integrity. He also was the Director of Human Resources for the Archdiocese of Denver.
As you have been aware, in early March, Deacon Clarence was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer. Throughout his illness, he bore his suffering with remarkable peace, deep trust in Christ, and a heart full of love for his family and the Church. We remember his inspiring video message to all of us Deacons at our recent Convocation! – (Attached).
Please hold in your prayers his beloved wife of 52 years, Wanda, their children; Hilary, Marcus, and Jessica, their spouses, and seven grandchildren, who surrounded him with love and prayer during his final days.
Funeral liturgies are pending and will be shared as soon as details are available.
Let us also remember in our prayers all our brother deacons who carry heavy crosses of illness and suffering, many in quiet and hidden ways. May our fraternal bond remain strong in prayerful support and Christian charity.
Requiescat in pace, Deacon Clarence. Thank you for your life poured out in service to Christ and His Church.
Vivat cum Christo – May he live with Christ.
AMDG,
